Hello, it's me.
It's been a while since I've posted here. In fact, it's been more than a while. It's been years. There's several reasons for that, but the main reason is that, after the release of The Outbreak Story back in September 2023, I experienced a period of severe burnout. I might write a post about that at some point, about my experience (and the ongoing road towards recovery) because I feel like post-release burnout is an underdiscussed topic among game developers. Several people I've talked to during those first few months, who are also game developers, have expressed similar feelings. I feel like talking about it wouldn't just help me process these feelings... it might help people who are in the same boat. The other major factor is that I experienced a period of financial difficulty, due to having to buy a new laptop after the old one gave out. And, because I needed to spend the money on more important things like rent and basic necessities for me and Casper (who is lying down next to the laptop and kneading as I write this) it meant that I couldn't afford to keep this blog up. Aside from that, I ended up discovering some things about myself. The people who follow me on social media and keep in contact with me through Discord know this, but I am trans. I go by Jules now, and use she/her pronouns. Trans rights are human rights. Signing out, -Jules
